"Major Alfred Booth.
Louisville Ky., Nov. 14 - Major Charles Alfred Booth, quartermaster U. S. A., in charge of hte United States arsenal at St. Louis, died here to-day of pneumonia at the home of his father-in-law, former Governor John Young Brown.
On Saturday Major Booth arrived here with his wife, who came to visit her parents. He was then only slightly indisposed, but soon afterwards pneumonia developed. Until last night it was believed that he would recover.
Major Booth entered the volunteer service in 1863, from New York, and was mustered out in February, 1866, as brevet Lieutenant colonel. In March, 1807, he was appointed second lieutenant in the regular army. He was promoted to first lieutenant in 1878, was made captain and assistant quartermaster in 1883 and was promoted to major in the quartermaster's department in 1896.
For the past four years he has been stationed at St. Louis. He married Miss Virginia Brown."
