Frederick J. Alexander, 80, of LaSalle Road, Free Soil, died at his home Sunday, August 29, 1976, following a lingering illness.

Mr. Alexander was born August 15, 1896 in Vera Cruz, Ind., coming to the Grant Township area in 1911 with his parents. He was a retired farmer.

A member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Manistee, he also was a veteran of World War I, a member of the D.A.V. Salt City Chapter #43, of which he was a past commander and aide-de-camp. He was a charter member and past commander of World War I Barracks #3395, a member of the VFW Walsh Post # 4499 and on eof the orginiators and the first chairman of the Manistee United Veterans Council.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; a daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Helen) Tondu of Arcadia; a borther Daniel Alexander of Springfield, Ore.; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

The funeral for Mr. Alexander will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Manistee with the Rev. D. E. Cordes officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Manistee.
