John Jr., and Elizabeth lived a short time in Iowa. Son Madison and their daughter--name unknown--were kidnapped by the Indians. After a trying ordeal, John Jr. was able to re-capture them and bring them home. Elizabeth and their daughter soon died and are buried somewhere in Iowa. They had all been injured during the attack.
John Jr. brought Madison back to Indiana, where he was raised or adopted by John Jr's brother, Isom Wright Sanders, and wife Elizabeth Elmore Sanders.
John Jr., then later married Miriam Coffey, and they had Newell Sanders. (Sen. Newell Sanders, Tennessee).
One year, and 3 months after Newell was born, John was dead, at the age of 27 years, 8 months, and 11 days old.
