DEATH OF MRS. W.E. UPJOHN
Occurred on Tuesday Afternoon
Friends’ Appreciation
Of Woman Who Has Been Active in Good Works.
After an illness covering several months, Mrs. Rachel Babcock Upjohn, wife of Dr. Wm. E. Upjohn, died Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the family residence, 530 west South street. Besides the husband three daughter, Mrs. Winifred Upjohn-Smith, Dorothy and Genevieve Upjohn, one son, Harold Upjohn, two sisters. Misses Genevieve and Blanche Babcock, two brothers, Hobart and Heber Babcock survive in the near relatives. Mrs. Upjohn was born in this city and was married here 26 years ago on Christmas eve to Dr. Upjohn. With the exception of a few years spent in Hastings she has lived continuously in Kalamazoo. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the residence and burial will be private in Mountain Home. The Rev. Howard Murray Jones will officiate.
