He is buried beside his Wife, Bessie Phillips Pounds.
They were married September 12, 1926 in Prentiss County, MS.
He is a World War I Army Veteran.
He is the Son of John Leroy Pounds and Sarah Ann McCreary Pounds, who are buried at Cotton Springs Cemetery, Tishmingo County, Miss.
He worked during the 1940's at Oak Ridge, TN on construction of the Atomic Bomb Plant; and in Paducah, KY on the Hydrogen Bomb Plant and in Sardis, MS on a Federal project.
He had a part in the construction of many buildings in Booneville and Prentiss County, including Booneville Church of Christ, First Baptist Church, Brown Shoe Company, Booneville Compress Warehouse and a number of residences.
He and his Wife owned a farm in the Hills Chapel Community on Highway 30. They were Members of Hills Chapel Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder for over 30 years.
In 1972 at age 73, he underwent surgery at North Miss Medical Center in Tupelo, MS for Lung Cancer. After seven years following the surgery, his Doctor told him he had "Whipped Cancer". He died of a stroke on October 30, 1979, at the age of 80.
