Mary Elizabeth Phillips, age 97, of Hanahan SC died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at a

She was born in Burton WV on October 10th, 1909 to the late Fred Shidell and Lila Santee Shidell.

Mrs. Phillips graduated from Hundred High School, Hundred WV, in 1926. She was a long-time member of Highland Park Baptist Church and was a Chaplain with Senior Citizens of Hanahan. She wrote poetry, loved to cross stitch and volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Bank. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her son: John Phillips (Pat) of Hanahan SC; daughters: Jane Hamblin (Steve) of Ladson SC, and Patsy Thornton (Billy) of Jacksonville FL; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Carl P. Phillips, son: Carl F. Phillips; and her parents: Fred and Lila Shidell.

Funeral will be at 1:00 PM, Sunday, September 16th 2007 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., N. Charleston SC 29406. Inurnment will follow later in Carolina Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 15th 2007 at the funeral home

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary Phillip's honor to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston SC 29406. CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME IS SERVING FAMILY WITH FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS.
