Byron Sprague, only son of the first Governor William Sprague, was born September 5, 1824. With his cousins, Amasa and William Sprague. He continued the firm of A. & W. Sprague and inherited great wealth and invested extensively in real estate. He improved the property at Rocky Point, in Warwick. He retired from the Sprague firm in 1862 with an ample fortune and continued to take care of his property and investments. He was president of numerous corporations and director of others in which he had financial interests. He died at Rocky Point, his summer home, July 31, 1866.
