Born in Rhoden Hall, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. Cedella was 18 when she married 50 year old Norval Sinclair Marley, a white Jamaican of Welsh ancestry. He provided financial support for his wife and child but seldom saw them, as he was often away on trips. Bob was ten years old when Norval died of a heart attack in 1955 at age 60. Their son Bob brought Jamaican reggae music to international prominence, becoming its international image. Bob Marley died in Miami of a brain tumor in 1981 at age 36.

She later married Edward Booker, moved to Delaware, then relocated to Miami, where she lived for the past 20 years.
She released the music albums Awake Zion and Smilin' Island of Song.
