She was a descendant of Samuel Bowen 1760-1840, who was granted a pension, 1836 for service as private 1776-79 in Capt. Jacob Fuller's Company, col. Thomas Carpenter's Massachusetts regiment. He was b. in Rehoboth, MA, d.Brooks, ME.
