Author. Born in the Aix-en Province of France, she was a pioneer feminist literary, known to her contemporaries as "The Muse". A flamboyant populist, she wrote her first poetry novel “Fleurs du Midi,” in 1836. Her Paris salon became a meeting place for many noted literary writers such as Gustave Flaubert who had strong affections for her. Some of her most noted works included “Mirabeau’s Youth” (1841), “Broken Hearts” (1843), “In Women’s Hearts” (1852), “The Woman’s Poem” (1854) and “Him” (1859). She died at age 65 in Paris France.
