Otis was the son of legendary soul music icon Otis Redding and Zelma Atwood Redding. He attended Mount De Sales Academy in Macon, Georgia. He relocated to Silver Springs, Maryland to pursue his music career and attended St John's Military College and High School.

He was a member of The Reddings along with his brother, Dexter Redding and a friend, Mark Lockett. He played guitar and sang background vocals in the group. The group released 4 albums on the Believe In A Dream Record label: "The Awakening" in 1980, "Class" in 1981, "Steamin' Hot" in 1982 and "Back To Basics" in 1983. They signed with Polydor Records and released "If Look Could Kill" in 1985 and "The Reddings" in 1988. Otis recently pursued a solo career and released the single, "Dance Dance Dance" in 2017.

His philanthropic endeavors include serving as Middle Georgia Chairman of Meals On Wheels in Macon, Georgia. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Macon Transit Authority and as Trustee of the Historic Macon Foundation. He mentored local youths thru the Mentor's Project and the Otis Redding Foundation's camps and programs.
