He was a native and lifelong resident of Fort Pierce.
Mr. McCarty was a graduate of Dan McCarty High School, class of 1965. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida and received a law degree from the University of Florida in 1973. Mr. McCarty was a member of the Florida Bar Association. He was a citrus grower and cattle rancher.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Ecker McCarty of Fort Pierce; two sons, Michael Tobin McCarty and Thomas Marc Gerakaris, both of Fort Pierce; one daughter, Rachel Ann Gerakaris of Fort Pierce; one brother, Daniel T. McCarty
III of Fort Pierce; and one sister, Lela McCarty Mitchell of Fort Pierce and Thomasville, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gov. Daniel T. and Olie Brown McCarty .
SERVICES: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow in Palms Memorial Cemetery, Ankona.
