Nine children were John Francis (1841-89) who married in 1869, Frankie Barker; Alexander Hamilton (1843-1941); William A. (1846-68); Sarah A. (c1848-); Addison Thornton, Jr. (1850-94); Mary S. (1850-1917); M. C. (c1854-); Caroline D. (1857-1938); and George Ann Posey (c1860-).
