Dancer and actor. He was born Antonio Zito, in New York City, He was one of the first acting students to be accepted into the Julliard School's Group I, which was chaired by Actor/Director John Houseman. He also started dance training with noted choreographer Anna Sokolow. He appeared in such plays such as The Cotton Club Gala, Bebop, The Life and Times of Toulouse Lautrec and C.O.R.F.A.X. then made his Broadway debut in Richard Foreman's controversial revival of The Threepenny Opera. His biggest break came when he was cast as the Sergeant of Police in Joseph Papp's 1980 production of "The Pirates Of Penzance". His performance earned him a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award in 1980. He went on to recreate the role in the film version of The Pirates of Penzance in 1983. Later he would also appear in in Twelfth Night and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Film credits include Stardust Memories, Moonstruck, Apple Pie and Addams Family Values. He also had a recurring role on Miami Vice during the 1980's. In 1994, he was diagnosed with AIDS and retired from the stage and screen. He later died at his home in Manhattan.
