HOUSTON, TX Thomas "Tom" Treviño Peña of Houston passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Westchase Health and Rehabilitation Center, where he was a resident since July 2021. Tom was being visited and comforted by family, friends, and care workers at the time of his passing. He was 93 years old.

Tom was born December 21, 1928, in Mathis, San Patricio County, Texas, to Elena Treviño.

He grew up in and around San Patricio County, Texas. He served two years in the United States Army (1950 - 1952) and married Guadalupe "Lupe" Vasquez on September 28, 1953. Tom and Lupe moved to Houston with their four children in 1962. They settled just east of downtown, where they had two more children. Tom would later marry Doris Almendarez Lopez on August 15, 1973. He worked for W. W. Grainger for many years and spent decades working for Magnolia Auto Parts. Tom was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Houston and enjoyed participating in his Prayer Group and playing music for and leading the Spanish Choir Ministry.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Elena Treviño and Juan "Cheno / Chenito" Peña; wife Doris Lopez; step-daughter Irene Lopez Singleton.

He is survived by his children Thomas "Tommy" of Houston, Irma Moore (Hugh) of Houston, Mary Helen Stokman (Konrad "Fritz") of Humble, Raul of Houston, David (Sharyn) of Humble, and Irene Litton (James) of Cypress; step-children Carlos Lopez of Godley, Rudy (Kathy) Lopez of Brownwood, and Brenda Lopez of Brownwood; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and 24 step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 17, 2022, between 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Texas 77003. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Henry B. Walker officiating. A graveside service with Military Honors will follow the funeral service at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, Texas 77023 at 12:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Matthew Moore, Jonathan Stokman, Nathan McGuire, Joshua Litton, Carlos Lopez, and Christopher Viramontes.

The family would like to thank Chaplin Frank Hawkins, LaTeisha and Ella (and countless other care workers), congregants from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the many friends and extended family members for their regular visits and acts of love and kindness while Tom was receiving home care and during his stay at Westchase Health and Rehabilitation Center.
