Ethel graduated in 1951 from Green Bay West High School. She married Jerry M. Dufek in 1955 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2015. Together they raised three loving children.
Ethel was a dedicated stay-at-home mom for 20 years and during those years, she volunteered at the YMCA where she even made television appearances teaching exercise classes. She later went to work for Beaumont Clinic/Prevea Clinic in a variety of roles for nearly 25 years. During her retirement years, Ethel found time for hobbies, including traveling with family and good friends. She also looked forward to hosting others, including her son's family dog, at her house. She enjoyed a very special group of lady friends who celebrated their birthdays together for about 50 years. Also, Ethel did volunteer work for St. Patrick's Pantry and helped with the lunch program at Holy Family School, which her grandchildren attended.
She enjoyed movies, theatre, dances and many sports; something she and Jerry watched and analyzed together. She especially enjoyed going to grandchildren's events. Family was most important to Ethel and she cherished the time spent with them. The best days being spent with grandchildren – she loved and adored them, as well as her two beautiful great-grandchildren. A true life-long learner, Ethel was remarkably tech-savvy and quick to send hearts and loving messages on social media to her family and friends.
Ethel had so many good friends and often told her family that she had been blessed with many good people in her life.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Jerry; her parents; brother, Frederick Wendricks; brothers-in-law, Charles Dufek, Robert (Aubrey) Dufek, Marvin (Carol) Dufek; Don Rosin; and her parents-in-law.
Visitation will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 5, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at the church. Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
