America was born March 28, 1864, daughter of George McCracken Lozier and Eliza Ann Blaisdell. She married William C. Sutton on March 24, 1885 in Dearborn, Indiana. She and William had four children:

Frances E. Sutton, 1886-1971 m. Leslie Stevenson Rosser of Yakima, WA

Henry L Sutton, 1887-1933 who married Bertha Frances Bennett in 1914, and Helen
Howard Beman in 1916, with whom he had 4 children. Henry predeceased both his parents

William A. Sutton, 1890-1972 who married Fern Estelle Leonhard and had one daughter. After Fern passed away in 1925, William remarried Orlou Ganson and they had a son also named William. They lived in Yakima Washington.

Mary Elizabeth Sutton, 1902-m. Earland R Ritchie and lived in Upland, Indiana.

America and her husband William became well-known prominent citizens of Yorktown, living there for decades. William owned and operated the Sutton stone quarry east of Yorktown. He was active with the Yorktown Methodist Church, the Knights of Pythias, and the Yorktown Lion's Club. They share a tomb at Elm Ridge Cemetery.
