William and Isabella Medill, were Irish immigrants to the United States in the late 1700s. The settled in the White Clay Hundred where they owned their own farm. They had two sons, David (1795-1861) and William Medill (1802-1865). Like many Scotch-Irish Presbyterians of the White Clay Hundred, they were members of the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church community (established 1709) and they were interred in this historic cemetery, as many of their descendants.

Their son, William Medill, later served as the twenty-second governor of Ohio, in the 1850s, and also in the US Congress.
