She was born Doris Elsie Ingrid Carlson on March 6th, 1925, in Galesburg, IL, to parents Oscar and Maude (Swanson). She loved her work at the Village of Progress in Oregon, IL, and her community at Salvation Army Church. Her passions in life included singing, her family, the Christmas holiday, and everything the color red. She was a determined woman, who was always honest and full of joy.
Doris will be fondly remembered by her nephews Larry (Joy), Daniel, and Butch (Joana); nieces Jan and Cheryl (Jeff); great-nephews Joe, David, and Steve; great-niece Tracey (Alan); several great-great-nephews and -nieces; and even a few great-great-great-nephews and -nieces.
Doris was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Maude; brother Raymond; sisters Marilyn and Margaret; and nieces Sharon and Linda. There will be a small graveside service Sunday, September 2nd, at 11am; she will be interred at Mouth of Stillman Cemetery in Ogle County, alongside her parents and siblings.
