June McLellan, 95, of Belle Fourche, formerly of Lantry, SD, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Belle Estate.

She was born June 28, 1926 on a ranch in Sioux County, ND to Levi and Minnie (Ostrum) Henderson. She attended grade school at several rural schools and one year at Livingston, MT, staying with her brother. In 1940 her parents moved to Eagle Butte, SD, where she graduated from high school in 1945.

She was united in marriage to Archie McLellan on October 16, 1946 at St. James Episcopal Church in Mobridge, SD. They resided on the McLellan homestead southeast of Lantry where they raised their three daughters. Archie passed away on June 17, 2006. June continued to spend her time between the ranch and an apartment in Belle Fourche. In October 2011, she moved to Belle Fourche.

She was past worthy matron and secretary of the Eagle Butte Order of Eastern Star; joining in 1953. She also was grand representative to the District of Columbia in 1978. She was active in the Kensington Club, Mary Circle, Prairie Strippers quilting, St. James Episcopal Church, Tri-State Museum and the Rec Center.

She enjoyed traveling, which included Alaska, Puerto Rica and many of the 48 contiguous United States. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren received many of the beautiful creations. She liked to attend her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's school and sporting events.

Survivors include her three daughters and their families ; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leslie (Sue), Harvey (Alva), William, Jack (Maxine); 1 sister and brothers-in law, Lucille (Albert) Fitchell and Nels Babcock.

The family suggests memorials to St. James Episcopal Church or a local charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 12 from 6:00-8:00 pm at St. James Episcopal Church, Belle Fourche.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 13 at 10:00am at St. James Episcopal Church, 6th and Roundup St, Belle Fourche. Burial will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery at 12:00 noon.
