Nellah Bailey To Become Bride Of Cadet Webb; Troth Told At Lovely Luncheon
Foretelling an event of Outstanding interest to their many friends throughout the South is the engagement of Miss Nellah Pope Bailey, only daughter of Governor and Mrs. Thomas L. Bailey, to Aviation Cadet Hunter Cecil Webb, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Hunter C. Webb of Meridian, which is announced today by her parents.
Plans for the wedding which will take place in March will be announced at a later date.
Miss Bailey, is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carter Massey of Meridian and Mrs. Anderson Bean Bailey and the late Mr. Bailey of Maben. She attended the schools of Meridian and took her freshman year of college study at Miss. State College for Women. She is now attending Millsaps college. She was national sweetheart of Theta Kappa Omega fraternity and a member of Delta Beta Sigma sorority in high school. She is now a pledge to Chi Omega sorority at Millsaps, and is also a member of the Girls Cotillion club, a local social organization.
Cadet Webb attended school in Meridian and studied for two years at the University of Mississippi where he was on the varsity football team and was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He entered the Air Corps and is now training at Moorehead, Minn.

Bedecked with magnolias, Mississippi's 102-year-old executive mansion has added to its long and colorful history another brilliant chapter with the wedding last night at 8 o'clock of Miss Nellah Pope Bailey, daughter of Governor and Mrs. Thomas L. Bailey, to Pvt. Hinter Cecil Webb, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Hinter Cecil Webb of Meridian, the culmination of a romance that began in school days.

The Attendants
Entering first were the bride's five attendants, her mother, as matron of honor, her cousin, Miss Betty Lou Massey, as maid of honor, and Miss Ruth Webb, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Marianne Hatcher and Miss Lillian Sledge, all of Meridian, as bridesmaids.
Groomsmen were Pfc. Harold Bailey of the United States Army Air Corps, Brookley Field, Mobile, Ala., brother of the bride, Pvt. Jefferson K. Hamm of Camp Claiborne, La., and William Jackson, U.S.N., of Meridian.
Dainty little Miss Carolyn Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Hill of Quitman, and a cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.
