Funeral services for Carol Marlys Goehring were held Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Church, Parkston, with the Rev. Kenneth Soyk officiating.

Interment was made in the Parkston Protestant Cemetery with Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Parkston, in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Chris Zirpel, Bill Bertram, Mark Morehouse, Tim Rands, Bob Van Zee, Josh Zirpel, Dale Moege, Lane Konrad, Jerry Welch and Bill Hoffman.

Carol Goehring was born January 27, 1958, to Malvin and Marlys (Leischner) Zirpel at Parkston. She was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Dimock. She attended school in Parkston and later country school near Dimock before graduating from Parkston High School in 1976. She attended and graduated from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls with a degree in medical assistant.

She was united in marriage to Mike Bialas on October 21, 1977, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked as a secretary for Lloyd Mahan as well as working on the farm, for Toshiba and County Fair in Mitchell and finally for Parkston Food Center.

She married Keith Goehring on March 16, 2002, in Parkston. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was active there as church organist, Sunday School teacher and as a member of the LWML.

She died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 49 years.

She is survived by her husband, Keith, Parkston; mother, Marlys Moege, Parkston; four children, Christen Wermers and husband, Tim, Sioux Falls, Matthew Bialas, Sioux Falls, Emily Bialas, Rapid City, and Mandy Bialas, Sioux Falls; three brothers, Dennis Zirpel and wife, Leanne, Presho, Gerald Moege, Dimock, and Maynard Moege and wife, Anne, Mitchell; two sisters, Cheryl Mogck and husband, Kelly, Parkston, and Lynette Konrad and husband, Lance, Parkston; and several nieces and nephews, Jamie and Lane Konrad, Samantha and Mariah Mogck, Christopher and Katie Zirpel and their daughter, Jordan, and Joshua and Mellissa Zirpel and their children, Jonas and Justice.

She was preceded in death by her father, Malvin Zirpel, her step-father, Herbert Moege; grandparents; and an uncle, Calvin Leischner.
