US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1870 and commenced law practice at Monroe, Louisiana. He was District Attorney of the thirteenth judicial district of Louisiana in 1871 and 1872, and elected associate justice of the State Supreme Court in 1876. In 1877, he was elected as a Republican to the Forty-fifth Congress and served until his death.
