Robert Alexander Wiley was born on August 19, 1889 in Tennessee, and he was the son of Edwin Floyd Wiley (1839–1919) and Mary Catherine (McAdoo) Wiley (1849–1926).
He was married to Mabel Holt.
A US military veteran who served during World War I, Robert was later an insurance agent living at 203-A Mason Avenue in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. He was 76 years old, married and had pernicious anemia when he died of congestive heart failure on March 17, 1966 at Nashville's VA Hospital. Burial was the next day in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville.
