Mrs. Agnes Pope Saunders passed away Monday, July 6, 1992, following a lengthy illness. She was born June 7, 1905 in Jackson Parish, the daughter of Jesse T. and Lucinda McBride Pope. Mrs. Saunders graduated from Weston High School, and attended Northwestern in Natchitoches, and Centenary College in Shreveport. She was a member of Zions Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Saunders donated her body to science. A memorial service will be held later.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Clifford Saunders, and one son, Daniel Reuben Spainhour, husband of Gladys Bowman Spainhour. She faithfully and lovingly attended Mrs. Saunders in her last illness.
Survivors include one son, Rev. Jim Saunders and wife, Iva Lou of Big Creek, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Gladys Bowman Spainhour of Pollock; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; give sisters, Fannie Pope Hamer of Georgetown, Eunice Pope Miller of Shreveport, Audrey Pope Rice of Elk City, OK, Effie Pope Smith of Pearl River, and Lorene Pope Everts of Pearl River; numerous nieces and nephews; including Mrs. Ellie Walsworth and J. W. Walsworth and family of Jonesboro.
The family requests that memorials be made to Zions Rest Primitive Baptist Church or to the donors choice.
