William W. Lawrence, an old pioneer resident of San Jose, died on Feb. 11, 1890, at the age of 70, at his home at 434 South Tenth street. He came across the plains in 1849 and engaged in mining, afterward locating in San Francisco and later San Jose. He had been an invalid since having a stroke of paralysis about seven years before his death. He was survived by his wife, aged about 60 years, and a daughter, Mrs. John T. Bury. His father was the late Judge Lawrence of Monroe, Michigan, and his brother, the late E. A. Lawrence, was an attorney in San Francisco. He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery.
