David Alan Staver, 80, MAJ. USAF (RET) of Amarillo, Texas formerly of Bloomington passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home in Amarillo, Texas.

Mr. Staver was born July 7, 1936 in St Joseph, Missouri the son of Alan Paul and Elda (Isaacson) Staver.

He was a 1954 graduate of Shawnee Mission High School and a graduate of Ohio University where he severed as Cadet Colonel of the R.O.T.C. program and a graduate of Indiana University in school administration. He married Georgiabel Hays Tidd on March 21, 1981 in Bloomington, Indiana.

He was a Military Veteran and served in the Air Force and Army National Guard.

While station in England, he served as Chief of Protocol for the 3rd Air Force South Rislip. He was stationed at Royal Air Force Mildenhall Head Quarters. In London he coordinated the John F. Kennedy memorial service for the Queen at the American Embassy. He retired from active duty after serving 10 years on Active status.

He served in the 434th Air Reserve Wing U.S. Air Force Reserve, he was attached to the Grissom Air Force Base near Peru Indiana.

David decided to finish his military career and serve in the Indiana National Guard in the 120th Public Affairs Detachment and was deployed to Panama for Operation Just Cause in 1989.

Mr. Staver was employed at the Monroe County Community School Center. His assignments included Assistant to the Superintendent, Personnel Director, teaching Photography, and Yearbook Sponsor at Bloomington High School South.

He enjoyed photography, traveling, military history, and growing roses were his main hobby's, his real love was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity, Phi Delta Kappa, and the National School Publication Association.

Survivors include his wife Georgiabel Tidd-Staver: four sons, William Charles Staver lll, Michael Kent Staver, Scott Allan Staver, and James Gregory Tidd. 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be at 1:00 pm June 19, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home & Crematory 4151 S. Old State Road 37 in Bloomington, IN. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to service time at the funeral home. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Memorial may be made to The Heart Foundation 31822 Village Center Rd Suite 208, Westlake Village, CA 91361.
