Thomas Clark McCampbell was born on August 9, 1874 in Donelson, Tennessee, the son of John Andrew McCampbell (1847–1929) and Anna "Rebecca" (Frazier) McCampbell (1851–1892).
He was married on August 14, 1907 in Wilson County to Annie J Shipp (1871-1955), the daughter of David Jones "Dave" Shipp (1842–1919) and Margaret Tate "Maggie" (Sweatt) Shipp (1845–1934).
Working for Tennessee Central Railroad and living at 1303 Ordway Place in Nashville, Thomas was 80 years old, married and had chronic lymphatic leukemia when he died at Mid-State Baptist Hospital on October 4, 1954. Burial was the next day in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
