Ferrin Hugh Grimes, Jr., joined his Savior and many beloved family and friends when he stepped into heaven on April 16, 2015. Just as he wanted, he was surrounded by his family when he took his last breath. He came to live in the south Putnam area in 1970 coming from Bolling Green, Florida and graduated from Crescent City High School in 1972. He worked for Georgia Pacific for 32 years and was an active member of the Georgetown-Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He also worked part time as an E.M.T. for Clayton Frank & Sons Ambulance Service in the 70's, 80's and 90's. He moved to Jacksonville and lived there for 24 years where he was a member of First Baptist Church of Downtown Jacksonville. Following his retirement from Georgia Pacific he lived in Orlando until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferrin and Ida Louise Grimes and his daughter in law, Holly Grimes. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sandi Grimes and his daughter, Sarah Grimes, both of Davenport, Florida; Sons, Ferrin Hugh Grimes, III (Thumper) of Jacksonville and Robert L. (Leanna) Grimes of Blue Ridge, Georgia; Brothers, Keith Grimes, Georgetown, Fl. And Robert Sandy (Gleda) Grimes of Jacksonville, Fl. Visitation for Mr. Grimes will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Biggs Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 20, 2015 at Beulah Baptist Cemetery in Fruitland. There will be a memorial service honoring his life at the First Baptist Church of Downtown Jacksonville to be held at a later date. From Sarah to her Dad, I love you and miss you. I will miss your calls, your hugs and your kisses. I am happy you are with Jesus now, no more pain, no more hurt, no more sorrow. Because we are Christians, you and I know this is not goodbye, it's - I will see you later. I miss you, Daddy Duck. With Love, Sarah, Little Duck Grimes. Floral tributes are gratefully accepted and those who wish may make contributions to Georgetown-Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 8, Georgetown, Florida 32139 or First Baptist Church of Downtown Jacksonville, 124 W. Ashley Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32202.
