Margaret McClung Williams, daughter of the US Senator from Tennessee, John Williams (b 1778-d 1837), and Melinda White Williams (1789-1838). On June 12, 1832 Margaret married the Hon. Richard Mumford Pearson (1805-1878) of North Carolina.
Margaret gave birth to 10 children with Richmond M. Pearson, battling debilitating depression all the while.

The following was written about Margaret Williams Pearson in the biographical information about her husband Richmond M Pearson written by Memory F. Mitchell and included in the DICTIONARY OF NORTH CAROLINA BIOGRAPHY, vol 5, [UNC Press, Chapel Hill, NC]:
" Efforts were made to cure her, both at home and in Philadelphia, but to no avail. She died at Richmond Hill on 27 Dec. 1855, at age forty-two. The immediate cause of her death was deemed paralysis, which began in the hand but spread 'until it was supposed to have reached the heart, when it resulted in sudden dissolution.' "
