Thomas Francis Burke, Tom, 84, passed away on Monday January 8, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Trudy Miller Burke for 57 years. Tom will be deeply missed by his 3 daughters; Brenda Forti (John) of Enterprise AL, Laurie Burke of Cordova TN and Janet Miller (Jim) of Lakeland TN. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Matt, Nick and Margot Forti, Catherine and Joe Miller and many devoted nieces and nephews.
Originally from Winthrop and Newton, Massachusetts, Tom was predeceased by his parents Charles and Margaret Burke. He is survived by his siblings, Marnee (Burke) DeVine and Charles J. Burke II. He was born in 1933. Tom was an accomplished sailor and loved being out on the water. Tom graduated from Newton High School and Boston College. He served honorably in the Army.
Tom and the love of his life, Trudy, raised their family in Newton Highlands and relocated to Pinehurst, North Carolina 27 years ago. Tom worked at the Pine Needles Golf Course for more than 20 years. Tom volunteered almost 1000 hours rocking babies at the hospital in the Neonatal Unit.
The funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst at 12 noon on Saturday January 13th, 2018.
