Mrs. John Cordes, Sr., 57 years old, died at her home at 805 North avenue at 7 p.m. Saturday after a long illness from cancer. She had been a resident of Fairmont for 12 years, moving to this city with her husband from Pleasant Prairie township.
Mary Boese was born in Germany, Dec. 8, 1872. She came with her parents to the United States when a girl of 7. The family went to Iowa and later came to Pleasant Prairie township.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Cordes is survived by the following children: John and Henry of Fairmont; George of Odin; Carl of Seattle, Wash.; Erna of Minneapolis, Olga of Dallas, Tex; Meta of Detroit; Sophia of Chicago, and Lillian at home.
She leaves 13 grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: August Boese, Kalispel, Mont.; Herman Boese, St. Cloud; Carl Boese, Fairmont; Mrs. Bertha Woedtke, Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Frank Kohls, Fairmont; Mrs. Charles Meyer, Fairmont and Mrs. William Hacker, Truman.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow from the Cordes home and at 2 p.m. at Evangelical St. John's church in Fairmont, Rev. E.J. Stech officiating.
