(The Dispatch - Moline, Illinois - December 17, 1906)

Milton L. Shallene, 6-year-old son of Frank W. Shallene, died at 6:30 Saturday evening of scarlet fever. The disease had been in the Shallene home for five weeks and beside Milton, his two brothers were down with it, but they recovered. The shock of the little one's death was particularly hard for the father, as he did not see his son alive after leaving him five weeks ago when the house was first placed under quarantine. Since that time Mr. Shallene, forced to be at his place of business, was not allowed to visit his sick children and not even to enter the home when the news of his son's death was brought to him.

Milton was an especially bright and promising child and had many friends among older people as well as his own playmates. He was born in Moline in 1900 and spent the six years of his short life here. He leaves to mourn his death his parents and two brothers.

The funeral was held privately at 9 o'clock this morning from the home to Riverside cemetery. The Rev. L. A. Johnston officiated.
