US Congressman. Born in Curwensville, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Dickinson Seminary, in 1878, engaged in the lumber business, owned the Curwensville Electric Company and was director of the Curwensville National Bank. In 1911, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-second and Sixty-third Congresses, serving until 1915. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was appointed Secretary of Agriculture for the State of Pennsylvania, in 1915 and served in that capacity until he retired in 1920. He died at age 78 on his estate in West Grove, Pennsylvania.
