Rosalie Adrian, 83
MUNCIE - MUNCIE- Rosalie Adrian, 83, passed away Thursday evening, April 20, 2017 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 19, 1933, on a farm near Weatherford, OK, the daughter of Jacob and Justina (Friesen) Schlichting. Rosalie attended Corn Bible Academy in Corn, OK before studying at Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS. She met her husband Daryl during her first year at Tabor, and they were married on June 26, 1953, during her second year at Tabor.
After college, she worked as an assistant for an Optometrist in Hillsboro, KS. She and her husband then moved to Topeka, KS, where she worked as a secretary for a psychiatrist group at the Menninger Clinic, and also where they started their family with three children. In 1967, the family moved to Muncie, and Rosalie worked part time and was active in Symphony League, was on the Library Board, University Wives-Women’s Club, from which she received her 50th year Award last week.
Rosalie spent fifteen years as Executive Administrative Assistant to the CEO for Ball Corporation, retiring in 1981. She also was an award-winning editor of the corporation newsletter.
Rosalie was an avid reader who loved to sew and play the church organ. She was a member of the College Avenue United Methodist Women and created the Prayer Card Ministry. During the last four years, she was very active in their Bible study. She also was active with the Sunday afternoon Vespers service at Westminster Village.
Rosalie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Daryl Adrian, whom she called her “Honey”. She is also survived by three children, Dr. Dwayne Adrian (wife, Melisa), Muncie, Brad Adrian, Muncie, and Sandra Clare (husband, Brian), Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren, Dr. Christina Hill (Shea), Muncie, Bryce Adrian, Cincinnati, OH, Dr. Derek Adrian (Mandesa), Raleigh, NC, Cara Adrian, Durham, NC, and Gavyn Clare (Maegan), Tulsa, OK; one brother, Rev. Walter Schlichting, Van, TX; and a great grandson on the way.
Mrs. Adrian was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Schlichting; and three sisters, Theresa Claassen, Emma Schlichting, and Frieda Hiebert.
Friends and family may call at College Avenue United Methodist Church, 1968 W. Main Street, Muncie, IN, from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at College Avenue United Methodist Church, 1968 W. Main Street, Muncie, with Pastor Lisa Schubert Nowling officiating.
