A. R. WAITE, VETERAN ITHACA PRINTER, DIES FROM HEART DISEASE
Arthur R. Waite, 64, a veteran Ithaca printer, died suddenly some time between 8 and 11 o'clock this morning at his room in the Y. M. C. A. Building. Heart disease was attributed as the cause of his death.
Mr. Waite had been employed for the past 12 years as a printer in the Andrus and Church plant. He reported for work about 7:30 o'clock this morning but soon afterwards returned to his room, after leaving a note for his foreman, John J, Barker, in which he said that he was not feeling well and would be unable to work today.
Employes of the Y. M. C. A. went to his room about 11 o'clock this morning and found the door locked. Receiving no response after knocking, an Investigation was made and Mr. Waite was found dead in bed. Sheriff Charles Green was summoned and gave permission for the removal of the body to the Gilbert undertaking rooms.
Mr. Waite was one of the oldest of local printers in length of service in that trade. He was employed at Washington in the government printing plant for nearly 17 years. His father was said to have been governor of Colorado in the 80's.
Mr. Waite was an extremely well read man and had a wide circle of friends. His wife, who was a daughter of Freeman Speer of this city, died about three years ago.
Mr. Waite leaves a son, Arthur S. Waite, who is in the U. S. Army and is stationed at San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. William H. Leonard of 307 North Meadow street was a sister-in-law to Mr. Waite. The funeral arrangements bave not been completed.
