Burlison, Jerry W. of Centerville, age 68, passed away on September 15, 2017 at St. Thomas West. He was born on June 11, 1949 at Aetna, TN. He is survived by his widow Ernestine Coleman Burlison, daughter Janeen Chadbourne (Chip), San Diego, son John Gregory (Sara), and grandsons Trent and Seth, Fairview.
He spent more than 40 years in the field of education as a teacher, coach, administrator and including two terms as Superintendent of the Hickman County School System. He was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, and spent many years as a member of the Alumni Board and Trustee of Martin Methodist College where is a member of the Hall of Distinction. He was a long time Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Knights of Pythias, a long time member of both the Lions Club and the Civitans. He served on the Boards of the Hickman County Education Foundation, the Senior Citizens Board and as a member of the Tennessee Education Association for many years. He was a TWRA Hunter’s Safety Instructor for more than 40 years and a member of the all-volunteer Tennessee Defense Force. Most recently, he had served as a Hospice Volunteer for several years.
Conducting the services will be Rev. Eddie Smotherman, Bill McDonald, and William Grimes. Interment to in Memory Gardens.
