On March 19, 1781, Lydia Richardson married Nicholas Anciaux in Newport, Rhode Island. They were married by Rev. G. H. Dentzel (Book I, p. 11 Newport Town Record/p. 4, Vol. 4 Vital Records of Rhode Island, 1636-1850).
Mrs. Lydia Anciaux was a devout member of the Union Meeting House, a Methodist Church, and oldest church in Bulloch County which was founded circa 1790, and whose name appears on the historical marker there. According to the Rev. Knowles in the History of Methodism in GA and FL from 1785-1865, for many years, she was an active Sunday School teacher and in ministering to the poor and afflicted in her neighborhood.
An inventory of her estate at her death included: 1300 acres of land in Bulloch County worth $600, a wharf lot called "Anciaux's Wharf" and buildings in Savannah worth $30,000, and $3500 in Bank Stock in the Central Railroad and Banking Company and Planter's Bank of State of GA.
