Born in the Second Concession of Cornwall Township, Stormont County, (Upper Canada at that time), Jacob was granted land by Order in Council on 4 July 1833 as the son of Loyalist George Gallinger.
Jacob Gallinger, of the Parish of Cornwall, farmer, age 24, married Catherine Cook 8 Dec. 1829 at Trinity Anglican Church, Cornwall. Catherine, age 16, had the consent of her parents. Parents of twelve children.
