Ruth Commissaris (Johnson), 87, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away May 15, 2017 at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo, MI.
She was born in LaPorte, IN, on October 9, 1929, the oldest of five children to the late Elmer and Iva Johnson.
She was the first in her family to be married and have children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Commissaris in 1963.
Widowed at a young age, she persevered through the challenges of raising three boys. Her family was her true passion; she was a devoted mom who faced many adversities with faith and strength.
Ruth was a kind and caring person who was loved by all and will be fondly remembered for her warm smile. For those who knew her, it was a privilege and an honor to have shared in her life.
Ruth is survived by her sons and their wives, ______ and his wife ______ Commissaris, ______ and his wife ______ Commissaris and ______ and his wife ______ Commissaris; eight grandchildren, grandson ______ and his wife ______ Commissaris, grandson ______ Commissaris, granddaughter ______ and her husband ______ Squires, grandson ______ and his wife ______ Commissaris, granddaughter ______ Commissaris, grandchild ______ Commissaris, granddaughter ______ Commissaris and grandson ______ Commissaris; two great-grandchildren, ggrandson ______ and ggranddaughter ______ Commissaris; brothers, ______ Johnson and ______ and his wife ______ Johnson; two sisters, ______ Parker and ______ Groth.

A private family burial will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
A memorial visitation will take place at Northeastern Baptist Church (6536 East G Ave, Kalamazoo) on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 from 12:00 1:00 PM to be followed by a memorial service beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Greg Bishop officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth's name may be directed to Kairos Dwelling, where Ruth spent her final days in peace.
