Born at "Cloverland", Prince William Co., VA., a plantation encompassing roughly 2,536 acres (including the "Falkland" land, of his father Charles Carter.
Charles B. Carter married his cousin, Anne Beale Carter (1756-Apr 15, 1809), daughter of Wormeley Carter, of Sabine Hall, and granddaughter of Landon Carter (1710-1779)
Bought Mt. Atlas, an 897-acre plantation, about 1801 from the estate of its builder, Peter B. Whiting. The house was built about 1795. In 1807, the property passed to his son John Hill Carter, a bachelor, despite efforts of his wife Ann B. Carter to retain the property, and in 1832, from John Hill Carter to John W. Tyler and Henry B. Tyler.
Charles B. Carter (1766-1807) is buried east of the house, halfway down the hill. Flat tablet marker.
