Catharine Ray was born July 20, 1731 in New Shoreham, Block Island. She was the daughter of Simon and Deborah (Greene) Ray.
When she was young she became acquainted with Dr. Benjamin Franklin and the letters to which I've given you the link will attest to their lifetime of friendship.
She married (in 1756) Governor William Greene of Warwick, Kent County, Rhode Island.
I have the silver porringer which Dr. Franklin gave my great great great great great grandmother on the occasion of her wedding to William Greene.
As I told you I attended my cousin's funeral there last May and my cousins still own "Greene Farm" just down the cart path from the cemetery.
I hope you were able to visit this wonderful site.
Best, Richard B. Hall
