Thruston Ballard Morton, Jr. graduated from Yale University in 1954. He was a partner of J.J.B. Hillard & Son, president and CEO of Orion Broadcasting, Inc., 1966-81, and former owner of WAVE TV in Louisville. He was vice-chairman of Cosmos Broadcasting Corp., 1981-83, and was executive in residence at the College of Business at the University of Louisville. He published Gladly Learn (Louisville 1997)(book on leadership) and My Words. He served in the Army in Korea, 1955-57. He married (1) in 1954, Julie Montgomery Baquie (b.1933)(Vassar 1954), daughter of John Gordon (1901-2003)(Tulane 1923) and Marguerite Montgomery Baquie (1908-77), of Louisville. Her father was a vice-president of Brown-Forman, Inc. Their four children were Thruston Ballard, III, Michael Clark, Morel Baquie and David Montgomery Morton (1963-78). He married (2) in 1984, Isabel Jordan "Muff" Hildebrand (1936-2020)(S.C. 1958), daughter of attorney Raymond Braddy (1904-54)(S.C. Law 1927) and Henrietta Jordan Hildebrand (1909-90)(Converse 1933), of York, S.C.
