Born Nov. 25, 1930, in Morganton, she was the daughter of Samuel James Ervin Jr. and Margaret Bell Ervin.
Leslie was the Daughter of U.S. Senator Sam James Ervin, Jr. Chairman of the Watergate Hearings in Washington, DC
Leslie lived with her loving husband, Gerald, for 55 years, with the last 47 years in Summit, N.J. and Hopewell Township, N.J. Prior to that, they resided in Vinings, Ga., and Indianapolis, Ind.
She was a graduate of Peace College in Raleigh in 1947 and the University of North Carolina in 1951, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa scholastic honorary. Graduating from George Washington University School of Law in 1961, she achieved Doctor of Jurisprudence and Order of the Coif honors. Leslie was a lifetime member of the Mayflower Society and Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR).
No funeral arrangements are planned. Interment will occur in Morganton.
