Martin Rolf Mauch INDIAN TRAIL Martin of Indian Trail, formerly of Hickory, passed away Thursday evening, Jan. 15, 2015, at his residence with his family by his side. He was 72 years old. Born Nov. 29, 1942, in Leonberg, Germany, Martin was a son of the late Ernst Jakob Mauch and Anna Schopf Mauch. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Martin retired from Shurtape Technology in Hickory. He attended Hopewell Baptist Church and had a passion for sports. In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters, all of Germany. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Thelma Mauch; daughter, Lisa Wright and husband, Jim; grandson, David Taylor and wife, Michelle, of California; and granddaughter, Abby Wright, of Indian Trail. He is also survived by three sisters in Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Hopewell Baptist Church Legacy Campus on Hopewell Church Road, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Dr. Lee Pigg and the Rev. Brian Austin will officiate. Interment will be held 3 p.m. in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
