Roy is a WWII veteran. Entering the service in 1943, he served as a Surgical Tech in the Army Air Corp at the Army Air Base in Kearney, Nebraska, and received his honorable discharge in 1946. While serving at Kearney, Roy met his sweetheart, Doris Tillotson, and they married happily ever after on June 29, 1944. Roy attended college and received his Teaching Certificate. His love for the Oregon coast brought the growing family to Agate Beach. Taking pride in providing for his family, Roy continued his studies, earning his Masters of Science in Education. Roy's esteemed teaching career ranged from Idaho, throughout Oregon, including Newport, and northern California. He is remembered for inspiring excellence, self-reliance, and a sense of humor.
A man of deep faith and firm belief Roy was very active in his Seventh-day Adventist Church. His love of life and nature, remarkable regard for others, and undying sense of humor carries forward in all of our lives.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife and life long sweetheart Doris, sons Jerry (Dori) Andre, Larry (Tricia) Andre, and Don (Jeannie) Andre; grandchildren: Jill (Bill) Hallett, Chuck (Donna) Andre, Bob Andre, Gregg Andre; great grandchildren Emma Andre and Zak Hallett; plentiful nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Karl and Laura Andre and sisters Rosa Claridge and Ella Woolery.
