Johan Isak Andersson was born in 1854 in Skogsdill, Korsberga socken, Vetlanda kommun, Jonkoping, Sweden and died in 1941 in same location in Sweden. He and Amanda had one child, Karl Emil Andersson who was born in 1898 in Illinois, USA. Amanda was a sister to Anna Hoffstedt.

Amanda left Solkaryd on November 14, 1892 the year she was married to Johan. She decided to go to America alone and left Goteborg, Sweden for America arriving on October 5, 1893 on board the Majestic Ship, which had departed Liverpool, England. After three years, Johan came to America and they started farming in the Moline, Illinois area on an 80-acre farm. Their first house was a sod house.

They moved to Pike Creek Township, Morrison County, Minnesota about 1905 as they were found there in the 1905 Minnesota State Census. They were still there in the 1910 US Census. Johan (John) had an 80 acre farm.

When they moved back to Sweden 1919/1920, Johan purchased the farm at Skogsdill that he was born on near Korsberga on March 24, 1920. They moved to the farm on October 25, 1921 or November 21, 1921. Amanda returned to America on May 20, 1922.
