Samuel McKean, (second, non-continuous, term as Chief), age 56, appointed Chief April 8, 1884, under Mayor Samuel M. Crans, 1884-86. Resigned April 16, 1885, during scandal over sloppy bookkeeping and missing fine monies. Never charged with any wrong doing. Served as justice of the peace at Burlington, Bradford County, for several years. Died November 6, 1890, at Granville, Bradford County, Pa.
