Ruby Bevers, 99, of Madisonville went to be with the Lord on September 26, 2008. She was born May 14, 1909 to John E. and Essie Scott Penn, in Temple, Oklahoma. Ruby was a member of First Baptist Church and Eastern Star, a Sunday School teacher, and a blood donor volunteer. She loved playing dominoes, cooking for her friends and family, and knitting caps for babies and cancer patients. She was loved by many and her quick wit and colloquial sayings endeared her to all. Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, and shared her faith with others. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband A.O. Bevers, and son Gerald R. Bevers. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, June R. Bevers of Madisonville, niece, Pat Mahoney of Houston, 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Riverwood Nursing Center for their years of loving care of Ruby. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 5-7 PM at Day Funeral Home in Madisonville and Monday, Sept. 29 at 10:00 AM at Living Truth Church in Madisonville. Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM at Living Truth Church with Rev. Lon McVeigh officiating, Interment to follow at Joyze Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Living Truth Church, FBC of Madisonville.
