Simeon Platt was engaged as a farmer, miller, merchant and postmaster in Washington, Connecticut. In 1886 he went to Torrington, Connecticut where he established a prosperous drug business. Later he went to Winsted, Connecticut to engage in the shoe business, returning to Torrington where he continued in the same line. He was a member of Rising Sun lodge No. 27, A.F. & M. and an honorary member of the Torrington Club, of which he was one of the founders.
